A group of fourth graders read Chasing Vermeer , this year's Kids Read Across Lawrence selection. They worked with pentominos and had great discussions. Ben shared the camera obscura he created and Holly and Eric shared their theories on the second Blue Balliett mystery The Wright 3. We had a wonderful time! Special Read Across Lawrence events will be held all month, be sure to check the Lawrence Public Library's website for more information. What a treat to have such enthusiastic readers!
This week third graders began meeting with their book clubs. The kids have taken the responsibility of leading their own book discussions very seriously. When asked what was one of the biggest challenges of book club, one third grader responded, "Waiting for someone else to finish talking before I take my turn." If you'd like to have your own at home book club, check the Lawrence Public Library Book Club in a Bag program. Happy Reading! Miss Gorup |

Ms GorupI've been lucky enough to be the librarian at Quail Run for the last ten years. I hope to use this site to share some of the highlights of our busy days in the library! |
