A group of fourth graders read Chasing Vermeer , this year's Kids Read Across Lawrence selection. They worked with pentominos and had great discussions. Ben shared the camera obscura he created and Holly and Eric shared their theories on the second Blue Balliett mystery The Wright 3. We had a wonderful time! Special Read Across Lawrence events will be held all month, be sure to check the Lawrence Public Library's website for more information. What a treat to have such enthusiastic readers! The fifth graders were excited to welcome Kate Klise as our visiting author. Kate talked about the process she uses when writing for both fiction and nonfiction pieces. She conducted a writing workshop with students allowing them to share with the group and gave them feedback on their writing. What an amazing opportunity for our students! It was a memorable day for everyone. Learn more about Kate Klise and her upcoming books on her website. |
