We were lucky enough to welcome author Kate Klise to Quail Run this week. She was an inspiration to our fifth grade authors. She showed them how to develop stories of their own. Most importantly she took time to answer their questions and get them excited about reading and writing. The second graders began work on their simile stories- check back in the next few weeks to see their finished products! Happy Reading! Miss Gorup I hope everyone had time to do lots of reading during our extended snow "vacation". The kids are excited to continue the Olympic Reading challenge. Read more about it under the Olympics tab. Enjoy the long weekend! Miss Gorup Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth grade students are going for the gold during our Olympic Reading Challenge. Students are working to earn each ring by completing a variety of reading choices. Learn more about the reading challenge on the Olympics page. Students are especially excited about having a chance to check out five books at a time. I'm so happy to see the kids excited about reading.
Happy Reading! Miss Gorup The last month has gone quickly. We had the opportunity to try some new projects and use a new approach with some old favorites. In addition to lots of learning our students did lots of reading. Over 2,600 books were checked out in January. This month the 700's section - home to the drawing, magic trick and sports books- was the most popular area of nonfiction. I can't wait to see what February brings! Enjoy your snow days! Miss Gorup |
