Mrs. Heatwole and I co-taught a lesson using The OK Book. Students wrote "Better than OK" poems and recorded the poems using the Audioboo app. Listen to the class Audioboo poems here. *Book cover art from Follett Title Peek After reading Hanoch Piven's book My Best Friend is as Sharp as a Pencil second graders wrote their own simile stories and created self portraits using the Little Bird Tales app. Mrs. Salyer's Class Tales Mrs. Barr's Class Tales Check back next week for Mr. Fowler's Class tales. *Cover from Follett Title Peek Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth grade students are going for the gold during our Olympic Reading Challenge. Students are working to earn each ring by completing a variety of reading choices. Learn more about the reading challenge on the Olympics page. Students are especially excited about having a chance to check out five books at a time. I'm so happy to see the kids excited about reading.
Happy Reading! Miss Gorup Kindergarten students started the new year building snowmen… indoors! After reading Lois Ehlert's Snowballs each student created his or her own snowman collage. Check out the final products in our slideshows.
Stay Warm! Miss Gorup Mrs Salyer and Mrs Barr's second graders worked in groups to research national parks. The rangers learned about the flora and fauna as well as what to do during a visit to the park. We also read The Camping Trip that Changed America, that explored the history of John Muir and Teddy Roosevelt's camping trip that lead to the establishment of the National Parks. Mrs. Barr's Class Mrs. Salyer's Class Mr. Fowler's Class *all book covers from Follett Titlewave Students in first grade reflected on what they've learned so far this year. They used Little Bird Tales to take a picture of their illustration and then record their reflection.
Mrs. Katzenmeier's Class Mrs. Pendry's Class Mrs. Quiarte & Mrs. Staley's Class After reading Steve Jenkins' book Move, Kindergarten students wrote verb stories of their own. They also practiced asking and answering a partner's question. They recorded their stories using the Little Bird Tales app.
